Historical performance of Romania at the Central European Cup 2020

From the National Columbophile Exhibition in Braşov, the Olympic pigeon lot of Romania left for Brno, Czech Republic, where the Central European Cup for racing pigeons took place. The results of the Romanian fanciers are more than remarkable: 1st European Central place for Young birds, 1st place for Middle distance category, 2nd place in the Country Rankings, 2nd place Central European for A Category, 2nd place Central European GCategory, and 3rd place Central European for I Category.

About this year’s edition of the Central European Cup for racing pigeons we can say that it is a historical one for Romanian fanciers. In almost all distance categories, the pigeons of the Romanian fanciers are on the European podium. More than that, in two of the categories we are European champions, and in the ranking by countries, Romania ranks second. Depending on the distance category, the places occupied are the following: for category A (10 races 95-420 km), Platon Brothers (BN) occupy the 2nd European place; for category B (middle distance), team Fekete&Lucaciu (SJ) wins the 1st European place; in category G (yearlings, 5 races over 95 km), Ionuț Șușelea (MH) wins the 2nd European place; category F (young birds, 3 races), team Despinoiu&Alexandru (PH) wins the 1st European place, and for category I (long distance), Ionuț Voicu (GR), ranks 3rd. Not least, at the countries level, Romania ranks second, right after Poland.
„The results of this year’s Central European Cup are extraordinary from all points of view. We are very happy to have two Central-European Champions and also two Vice-Champions. For us, these results from Brno are clear proof that we have a fair and strong internal competition; last but not least, very good fanciers and pigeons! Congratulations to all the fanciers for these exceptional results!”, said Marius Tunduc, president of the National Federation of Pigeon Fanciers in Romania.
