Romania: National ace Palmares, the category where 20 ranked races are required

The National Catalog of the category National Ace Palmares 2020 is one of the “poorest”. Because it requires ranking 20 races in all distance categories for two consecutive seasons, the record of the National Ace category is not easy to be achieved. As such, we have only 96 pigeons that achieved National ace Palmares at the end of the 2020 season.

The three national awards put into play in the category of National Ace Palmares, 2020 season, are obtained by Oltenia. Two of them, 1st and 3rd places National, were won in the Dolj Pigeon Association, and the national vice-champion trophy was won in the Gorj Pigeon Association. National champion is a cock, competed by the team Poenaru + Călin, from Băilești. The national vice-champion is also a cock, competed by Ovidiu Geagu, from Ionești, Gorj county, and the third place is occupied by a hen, which belongs to Adrian Cîrciumaru, from the same club, Băilești.

The Poenaru + Călin (DJ) team, two consecutive years on the first place at Național ace

In the 2020 season, through the 1st place National Ace Palmares, the tandem Poenaru + Călin, composed of pigeon fanciers Constantin Poenaru and his nephew, Răzvan Călin, manages to win a new national trophy in this category, after winning the same distinction in the 2019 season, but in the National Ace old birds category. It is very interesting that the two national trophies were won by a single pigeon, the cock with the series 0247089/2017, which we can say has dominated the National Ace category in the last two seasons. He finished the record of the National Ace category with 486.96 penalty points. “The national champion is an experienced pigeon, who, in addition to the two national trophies he won, helped us a lot last season to win the 2nd place National Short distance Fanciers and the 3rd place National Allround Fanciers, being one of the basic pigeons for the team. It is reproduced from a cock by Marcel Sangers, from George Vochin, with very good results at national level, in pair with a very good fancier, a hen that comes from two pigeons competing in pigeon courts and that also reproduced the 2nd place National Allround Old birds 2017 ”, specified Răzvan Călin.

Ovidiu Geagu (GJ), brings the only national trophy from 2020 for his association

National vice-champion in the National ace Palmares category, Ovidiu Geagu is the only pigeon fancier in Gorj County who in the 2020 season obtains a national award. He was won with one of the best pigeons in his loft, the cock with the series 6147341/2017, which in 2019 ranked 6th National in the National Ace old birds, and last year he managed to meet the record of the category, with a coefficient of 705.84 penalty points. “The cock is one of my best pigeons. He flew all the stages and from 2018 until now, he missed only one stage. He has norms and records in all categories, except for the marathon, and in 2019, the first year in which he was engaged for marathon competitions, he managed to meet the norm at the National Ace old birds, occupying the 6th National place. In 2020 he has 11 rankings out of 12 races, missing a single marathon competition. Also last season, he won three-year titles in the Short distance, Middle distance, Allround and Long distance categories, plus this norm in the National Ace Palmares. His mother is a hen of Jan Aarden and Wanroy, and his father is a Stichelbaut cock. My pigeons compete in every single race. I use the widow’s method, and at the end of the season, each remaining pigeon must have a norm in at least one of the competitive categories, no matter which of them. If they don’t, they are out of my loft, specified Ovidiu Geagu.

Adrian Cîrciumaru (DJ), on the national podium and at National ace Palmares

A regular winner in the categories with one-day stages, Adrian Cîrciumaru from Dolj approaches the National Ace category every season, and after the 2020 season, the pigeon fancier from Băilești added a new trophy to his record, by winning the 3rd National Ace National Award. The winner is an experienced hen, with the series 0246055/2017, which in the 2019 season occupied the 15th national place, and after last season, with the 731.68 penalty points, occupies a well-deserved 3rd place National National ace Palmares. “With a part of the flight group, I approach the National Ace category every season, and this hen brought me the third national trophy in this category. She is the daughter of the hen who in 2016 won the 2nd place National ace Yearlings category and has behind her most of the important pigeons from my loft. Two of his grandparents are among my Olympians, both on my mother’s and my father’s lines. My pigeons compete in widowhood all season. I use the Superstar and Champion Plus mixes from Versele Laga, but I also add corn when I think it is needed. The day before basketing, the pigeons receive an electrolyte, and training between stages takes place on Wednesday or Thursday. The pigeons are launched separately, by rotation, from 30 km. For motivation, there are practically several methods, but there are also quite a few races in which the pigeons are engaged without seeing each other before”, explained Adrian Cîrciumaru.
