Barcelona Winners Club, ready for to start!

The project through which several Romanian pigeon fanciers will have the opportunity to participate in the Barcelona International race, 2024 edition, has already very quickly exceeded the level of a simple desire. Step by step, it takes shape, the latest news being the finalization of the list of participants and the development of a regulation that includes all the important aspects of the project: the competition plan, data on the flight method, timing systems used, plus other very important regulations.

Started at the end of last year, the project regarding the participation of several Romanian pigeon fanciers in the Barcelona 2024 stage is already finalized. A total of 16 teams, consisting of one or more pigeon fanciers, have signed up and are ready to send 50 young birds this year to the loft in Germany, which belonged to the reputed pigeon fancier Raymund Hermes. Claudiu Roman (photo right) from Sibiu, a pigeon fancier with massive investments in pigeons, is one of the 16 participants we mentioned. Because the marathon races are his favorites, Claudiu Roman could not miss such a challenge. “It is the dream of every pigeon fancier to participate in Barcelona race and this was the main reason why I chose to participate in this project: the opportunity to fulfill a dream. My loft is consisting up of pigeons created in races like Barcelona. During January, I will also form the pairs from which I will reproduce the 50 young birds, which will be sent to Germany. They will be pigeons with Jelle Jellema, Arjan Beens, Wegen or Jan Ernest origins “, specified Claudiu. Also among the participants is Vlad Fildan, but also the well-known Bucharest team “Stănescu + Dobre”.
“Ever since I saw the first announcement about this project, I called immediately and signed up, because I had the intention to participate in the international races in the West. It is an old wish of mine, and this project seemed to me the best option. We have the opportunity to test our pigeons in the international ranking, practically the area from which Romanian pigeon fanciers make the most important purchases. I will participate with my brother, a pigeon fancier, and Raymond Rutten, also a team member. Ion Liteanu, a pigeon fancier from Suceava, will also join us. Of course, we are not satisfied with only participating. It would be a dream for any of us to get a very good result, not only in Barcelona, but also in other international races. We will send youngsters bred both from pigeons with results in our country and from imported pigeons “, said Vlad Fildan (photo left).
For the Stănescu + Dobre team, the marathon races are a new challenge at national level, but, by participating in this project, also internationally. With youngsters purchased directly from almost all the winners of the last years of the famous Barcelona race, our team has the perfect opportunity to prove their purchases. “Although we are still at the beginning of the marathon, so we followed this idea, which we thought was very good. We can test our pigeons in other championships, such as the German one, but also at international level, by participating in races such as Barcelona, Bordeaux or Narbonne. It is a completely different competition, much stronger and we are very curious to see what the results will be “, explained Cosmin Dobre.
