The first official competition of the 2020 season took place today, May 20, in the Bihor Pigeon Association. Thus, the pigeon fanciers from Bihor are the ones who started the long-awaited 2020 season, proving that this year we will also have competitions with pigeons.
The representatives of the Bihor Racing Pigeons Association performed their first training in Hungary at the end of last week, crossing the border without any problems. They are also the ones who had the first race of this year. The stage took place on Wednesday, May 20, with over 5,900 pigeons being launched from Mezokovesd, Hungary. Although the weather caused more problems to the organizers, the launch being delayed until 12:45, it is expected that the pigeons arrived in proportion of over 95%. In the ranking of live arrivals, the 1st place is occupied by the team Zbirce + Ciuciu, and the speed of the first ranked pigeon is over 1,314 m / min, which is a normal speed for a short distance competition. “We are glad that we were the first association that tried and managed to cross the border in Hungary at last week’s training, and now we are the association that organizes the first competition. We broke the ice and I hope it is auspicious. We crossed the border into Hungary for the second time, without any problems, but I explained to my colleagues, association presidents from other counties, that we managed to do that only by strictly following the rules and measures imposed by the authorities: wearing masks, keeping the social distance, and with basketing commissions formed by only two people, not more. In all five clubs in Bihor, things went smoothly. On Saturday we will basket our pigeons for the second stage, 160 km, and I think there are premises to have a successful season, even if we are going through turbulent times. I wish a lot of success to all my colleagues in the country for the season ahead, one full of challenges, in which it will depend on us if we know how to adapt to the conditions of current life and to be able to live together safely”, said Marius Tunduc, president of the National Federation of Pigeon Fanciers in Romania and also of the Bihor Pigeon Association. With other words, the die has been cast! As it was done in Bihor, it must be done in the other pigeon associations in the country, of course, in compliance with the recommendations and measures communicated by the authorities. The first competition held today in Bihor is a huge step for pigeon fanciers in Romania in this difficult year and a proof that slowly, things will get back to normal
