Last season, 660 youngsters managed to complete the norm of the Middle distance category, by ranking at least four races with a distance between 285 and 630 km. In a categorical way, the 1st national place was won by a young pigeon fancier from Suceava, Iosif Moțac. It is followed by Iordache & Adăscăliței team, from Mehedinți County, and Robaș G. + Bucaciuc D. team, who compete as members of the Satu-Mare Pigeon Association.
Iosif Moțac from Suceava became the new national champion of the Middle distance youngsters category with the help of the young hen RO-21-1105919, who obtained a coefficient of 20.35 penalty points. The national vice-champion of the Iordache & Adăscăliței team from Mehedinţi, with RO-21-1220112, and its coefficient is 29.11 penalty points. Iosif Moțac (Suceava), national champion for Middle distance in a province dedicated to marathon
Due to its specificity, Moldova is a province conducive to the results of the marathon categories, but in recent years, more and more performances have been achieved here and in the categories with shorter distances. One such example is the result of Iosif Moțac, national champion at Middle distance youngsters in 2021 with a very consistent advance. It should be noted that all the cumulative scores for its coefficient are only from the general rankings of the stages. Moreover, his young champion finished the norm with a result worthy of a national champion, winning the 1st place on the launch, out of 5,567 pigeons, at a middle distance race of 530 km. We also remind you that 2021 was the first season in which Iosif Moțac competed in the Romanian championship. “I competed for a long time in London, and this year I competed for the first time in Romania as well. In England we had a pigeon that performed very well, even winning several first places. He was paired with a Janssen hen, resulting the mother of the national champion from Middle distance. The champion’s father is a Vandenabeelle pigeon. I did not use the darkness method for my young birds, this hen even laying an egg three days before being basketed for the race where she won first place on the launch. I used Gerry and Champion Plus food for the preparation. Also this year I had a very good score also for the Long distance youngsters category, even for the national podium, but I missed 9 km to meet the distance scale “, said Iosif Moțac.
Iordache & Adăscăliței (Mehedinti), change of association with national trophies
The team formed by the pigeon fanciers Adrian Adăscăliței and Maricel Iordache in 2011 competed for many years within the Caraş-Severin Pigeon Association, with very good results. The two also became national champions in 2015, in the Speed Old birds category. However, in 2020, the team moved their loft to Vânjuleț, Mehedinți County, and, like any change of location in this sport, we would have expected the results to suffer a considerable setback. But, in this case, the effect was completely different. In 2021, they returned to the national podium and not just once. But, this time, we only mention the 2nd place national Middle distance youngsters, won with the pigeon RO-21-1220112 and with 29.11 penalty points. “When we had to move the loft, most of the pigeons that we kept were with origins of the 2015 national champion at Speed Old birds and also of another very good fighter of ours, which we crossed with different pigeons that we imported. The 2021 young birds have been bred since 1st of March and have competed naturally, with no darkness method, with no individual boxes or other stuff. We want our pigeons to compete well for at least two or three years and for this reason we let them grow normally. We had a total batch of 120 young birds and used, during the season, food from Versele Laga and Vanrobaeys, which we mixed. In any case, the food was mostly light, with only one day of “loading” before the race. We only do treatments if necessary, only if we see that the pigeons are really sick. We play very hard, in general, without sparing the pigeons. It is our method, which has given very good results so far. We only believe in good pigeons, which need as few things as possible to get results “, said Adrian Adăscăliței.
Robas G. + Bucaciuc D. (SM) team have the best youngster in Romania, 2021 season
As we stated in the article dedicated to the Speed Youngsters 2021 category, the Robas G. + Bucaciuc D. team, which competes within the Satu-Mare Pigeon Association, has the young bird with the most national trophies won in 2021 and, implicitly, the best youngster from last season. We are talking about a double national champion, in the Allround and Speed Ace categories, which also occupies two 3rd places, in Speed and Middle distance, the last of the national trophies being won with 29.71 penalty points. “The youngsters were sent by my team member Daniel Bucaciuc to Romania at the end of February and stayed in the dark until the first week of July. They managed to change the whole plumage on the body, and after the got matured, I separated them by sex. There were races when we left them together before basketing and stages when they didn’t see each other, but I didn’t notice any difference. The food used was the same, a few mixtures of Beyers and Gerry. Originally, the youngster’s father is an original Rudy de Saer pigeon, and the mother is a combination of Fantastisc, the famous pigeon of my team member Daniel, with Gino Clicque pigeons. The youngster is actually a hen and I think she was very motivated due to a bowl of food that I put in her box “, detailed Gabriel Robaș.
