In the middle of a catastrophic season, caused by the change of flight route due to the outbreak of war in Ukraine, fanciers from Oltenia Province, including pigeon fanciers from Argeş County, who last year flew with the counties in the southwest of the country, reunited at Craiova to participate in the Provincial Banquet for the 2021 season. Over 60 people responded to the invitation of the Dolj Pigeon Association “Gelu Ioan Gătejescu”, most of them starting from the award ceremony with trophies or important awards. “I am glad to see you again in a festive setting with those pigeon fanciers from the province who excelled last season and, through their results, proved that Oltenia is a real force in Romania in this sport. It was a celebration postponed until now for objective reasons. , but which, I say, has risen to a very high level, a sign that, despite some small differences in the province, the Oltenians still speak the universal language of racing pigeons sport. Even if the province is now broken and animated by certain internal conflicts, I am convinced that, from next year, things will return to normal, and in 2024 we will return to where we belong, at the forefront of Romanian racing pigeons sport. For more than six hours, goodwill and applause were the landmarks that characterized one of the most successful events of recent years in southwestern Romania. Even if the province is currently suffering, there are serious premises that, starting with next year, all the counties of Oltenia will benefit of a fair and valuable provincial championship, as it was until last year.
