Marius, Ionel and Daniel are three brothers from the town of Bistrița, Bistrița Năsăud county, who compete under the name “Andrei Brothers”. Extremely passionate about pigeon sport and eager to climb as high as possible in the rankings of their favorite categories, Long Distance and Marathon, they managed, this season, in addition to other good results obtained at the county and provincial level, to strike within the Gold Club, occupying the 1st place in Transilvania Province and the 9th place in the national top. “Responsible” for this performance is the hen with the series 2003080 -2021, who accumulated a total of 46.12 points in the three stages necessary to complete this norm. “The winning hen achieved a double performance, being the provincial champion in the Long distance Yearlings category, but also the provincial Club Gold champion. We purchased the first Gold rings in 2019, when we ordered a number of 5 rings, and in the 2020 season we managed to climb to the 2nd and 8th provincial Gold places with two good brothers, with the series 1012006-2019 and 1007796-2019. In 2021 I purchased 10 Gold rings, which turned out to be auspicious, one of the 10 pigeons ringed with Gold becoming the champion of the Province of Transylvania this season. Following this performance, we will definitely order Gold rings again in the future.
We have been competing since 2008, starting with the young birds championship, and the results started to appear from the 2012 season. Our favorite categories are Long Distance and Marathon, because they are difficult, but also very beautiful races, where good pigeons manage to stand out. From our point of view, the establishment of the Gold Club is a benefit for fanciers who play the Long distance Yearlings category, time proving that this was a very good idea. The current regulation motivates us pigeon fanciers to want top results. It is our opinion that every entrant in this category has the same chance of winning, with only the higher quality pigeons making the difference. Although the competition was close, I never noticed any irregularities. The prize won is a substantial one for us”, said Marius Andrei.

A champion with valuable “roots”

For this season the performances of the Andrei Brothers who, in addition to the provincial 1st place, authoritatively dominated the county competition, where they secured 1st, 3rd and 4th places, are largely due to the extremely valuable pigeons they have in their loft. “Our champion, the hen with the series 2003080-2021, from our own breeding loft, her sire being the best breeder in our loft for the Long distance category. His brothers, as well as his offspring, have proven to be good racers. Its mother is a hen purchased by us from our colleague Ciprian Pop, who also bred top birds in his loft. This hen comes from the breeding loft of another colleague, Sorin Salvan, and its origins are based on his famous pigeons: “Pănuță” and “Fetița”. The method of preparation after which the champion was competed was natural, the hen being specially prepared for the Long Distance stages, playing it as a nest position on 10-day-old eggs or on small chicks, 2-4 days old. In the future, we still haven’t decided whether we will engage her for the stages or retire her to the breeding loft, but we have a few winter months in which we will make our participation strategy for the year 2023 and then we will decide”, added the breeder from Bistrița.
