To see how combative are the columbophile provinces of Romania (Moldova, Muntenia, Oltenia, Transylvania and the Western Province) and on which categories of distance, we propose a series of comparative presentations of the last three seasons. In each of the categories, together with their derivatives, the criterion will be the ranking in the top three at national level. Then we will present you a hierarchy of provinces, the prizes that have returned to them each year, plus some other analyses. To make a transparent ranking of the provinces, the trophies won will receive the following score: 1st place – 3 points, 2nd place – 2 points, 3rd place – 1 point. In the end, we will calculate the total score achieved on all three seasons of each province and, according to this criterion, we will achieve a final ranking of them. So, for today we propose an analysis for the National Short distance category.
During the last three competitive seasons, the ones on which we will direct our analysis, only four of the five provinces are in the National Top 3. It is about Muntenia, Oltenia, Transylvania and the Western province, the only one that remains on the outside being Moldova, but we know that in this province, Short distance category is not a priority for the fanciers. Here’s how national awards have been divided over the past three years in the four provinces:
Transylvania
In the 2017 season, in Transylvania 13 national cups were won in the Short distance category: 3 National Speed Old birds, 3 National Speed Yearlings, 2 and 3 National Speed Young birds, 1 and 3 National Speed Fanciers, 2 National Speed Old birds palmares, 2 and 3 National Speed Yearlings Palmares, 2 National Speed Fanciers Palmares, 1 and 2 National Speed Palmares 3 years, 1 National Speed Fanciers Palmares 3 years. The following season, in 2018, in this province were won 10 national trophies: 2 and 3 National Speed Matures, 2 and 3 National Speed Youth, 2 National Speed Chickens, 2 and 3 National Speed Old birds, 2 and 3 National Speed Palmares and 1 National Speed Fanciers Palmares. Last but not least, in Transylvania, last year were won six national cups: 3 National Speed Old birds, 3 National Speed Yearlings, 2 National Speed Palmares and 1 , 2 and 3 National Speed Fanciers.
Muntenia
Muntenia is also found in our analysis in all three seasons. In 2017, 13 national trophies were won here, on a par with Transylvania: 1 and 2 National Speed Old birds, 1 and 2 National Speed Yearlings, 1 National Speed Young birds, 2 National Speed Fanciers, 1 and 3 National Speed Old birds Palmares, 1 National Speed Yearlings Palmares, 1 and 3 National Speed Fanciers Palmares, 3 National Speed Old birds Palmares 3 years, 3 National Speed Fanciers Palmares 3 years. In 2018, in Muntenia, three national cups were won, corresponding to the following places: 1 and 3 National Speed Young birds and 3 National Speed Fanciers Palmares. Last season, Muntenia won five national trophies: 1 and 3 National Speed Fanciers, 1 and 2 Speed Young birds and 2 National Speed Yearlings.
Western Province
The year 2017 brought to the Western province a single national cup, namely, the 2nd place National Speed Fanciers Palmares 3 years. In contrast, in 2018, five national cups were won: 1 National Speed Old birds, 1 National Speed Yearlings, 1 National Speed Fanciers, 1 National Speed Palmares and 2 National Speed Fanciers. In 2019, only the 1st National Speed Palmares was won in the Western Province.
Oltenia
About the province of Oltenia we must say that it does not appear in the top 3 national in the Short distance category until the 2019 season. Thus, last year, six national cups were won here: 1 and 2 National Speed Old birds, 1 National Speed Yearlings, 3 National Speed Young birds, 2 National Speed Fanciers and 2 National Speed Palmares.
Some conclusions
Broken down, by season, we can see that in 2017 the most combative of the provinces were Transylvania and Muntenia, with 13 national cups each. Of these, the majority of 1st National positions were won by the fanciers of Muntenia. Further, the 2018 season was dominated by Transylvania, a province where 10 national trophies were achieved, followed by the Western Province, with five national cups and Muntenia, with three national trophies. Last season was the most balanced of all three analysed. Oltenia makes its first appearance in this statistic, with the national cups of Short distance in 2019 dividing, this time, into four provinces. Last year’s ranking is opened by Oltenia and Transylvania, with six trophies, followed by, Muntenia (five trophies) and the Western Province (one trophy). Depending on the places won, the ranking by provinces looks like this:
- Transylvania- 51 points (24 pts/2017+17 pts/2018+10 pts/2019= 51 pts)
- Muntenia- 44 points (28 pts/2017+5 pts/2018+11 pts/2019= 44 pts)
- Western Province – 17 points (2 pts/ 2017+12 pts/2018+3 pts/2019= 17 pts)
- Oltenia- 13 points (13 pts/2019)
