Moldova, the most combative province for Extreme long distance category

When we started the analysis of the last three seasons in the categories of Extreme long distance, we announced that we will come back with a new article, in which we will present a final ranking, which will include the scores achieved by all the provinces. Today we present this final analysis, which we consider to be, to a considerable extent, conclusive for the purpose pursued, to discover which province holds the supremacy here.

As we showed in the initial articles, separately for each subcategory, during the last three years of competition we have had several norms that have been achieved in the Extreme long distance category. In 2017, fanciers who love the marathon races competed for norms like National Extreme long distance, FCI Extreme long distance and Ace Extreme long distance. One season later, in 2018, these categories changed their name for National Extreme, Extreme marathon and Ace Extreme long distance, and last year, in 2019, to National Extreme long distance, Grand Prix Marathon and și Ace Extreme long distance.

Moldova, the big winner

The results of the last three seasons in all the above mentioned competition categories, plus the results and rankings for fanciers, where they are drawn up, were analyzed, and based on a fair algorithm (the trophies won received the following score: 1st place – 3 points, place 2 – 2 points, place 3 – 1 point), there was a final ranking of the provinces, according to the importance of the trophies won by each area. Moldova was the province that was always on the first place of the rankings made by us, which makes us affirm that, at least for the last three seasons, it was the most competitive area for all that means “Marathon”. To understand this better, we will present more examples. National Extreme long distance, category that can be found in all the last three seasons, moldavian fanciers have won a total of 27 national trophies, accumulating 53 points. In other words, fanciers from this province have won more than half of the 51 national trophies available for this category for the past three seasons. Another category we have come across over the last three seasons was the Ace Extreme long distance. Again, Moldova managed to win the most, but also the most important national cups of this category, accumulating a final score of 28 points. Because Ace Extreme long distance is a category where no fanciers rankings are made, 30 national trophies have been available for this category in the three years. Moldavian fanciers won 13, which means almost half of them. FCI Extreme long distance, Extreme Marathon and Grand Prix Marathon were the last three categories of marathon analyzed, appearing only once in the last three years of competition. Therefore, they were the subject of a common article, and in the end, as expected, Moldova was in the first place, with 14 trophies won out of 25 available and with a total of 27 points. The total score achieved by Moldavian fanciers, for all categories in the last three years of competition, is 108 points (53/National Extreme long distance +28/Ace Extreme long distance+27/ FCI Marathon, Extreme Marathon and Grand Prix Marathon = 108 points), Moldova being the one that accumulated the highest score.

West province and Oltenia, the rising rivals

Although at a rather large difference from Moldova, we can say about West province and Oltenia that they are coming closer and closer. The two provinces were the main competitors for the second place in the ranking in each of the categories, in the Ace Extreme long distance category, for example, having the same score. In total, the two provinces have accumulated 44, respectively 35 points in the last three seasons, the Western province occupying the second place of the final ranking, and Oltenia, the third place. The last two provinces, Muntenia and Transylvania, scored slightly lower. According to the same criteria, the province of Muntenia accumulated a score of 22 points, and Transylvania 6 points. Therefore, the final ranking, with the score achieved in the last three years in the five categories of Extreme long distance is as follows:

  1. Moldova: 108 points
  2. West Province: 44 points
  3. Oltenia: 35 points
  4. Muntenia: 22 points
  5. Transylvania: 6 points
