Alin Karscu, a Romanian compatriot established in Germany, is the winner of the 1st place International Barcelona 2020, an atypical race from all points of view, with no pigeon arrived on the first day of the flight. Alin Karscu wrote a new page in the history of international pigeon sport. The Romanian, former member of the Timiș Pigeon Association, but established for some years in Germany, managed to win one of the heaviest editions of the famous Barcelona International race. The winning pigeon is a hen, competing from the small chick and which arrived on 01.08.2020, at 05:14:40. Because Alin Karscu was not home at the time of arrival, the hen was notified more than two hours late, although the regulations stipulate that pigeons arriving from such a race will be notified within 15 minutes. Even with this penalty, the hen is the 1st place International Barcelona 2020 and takes the name of Romania where it has never been before. Absolutely all the suspicions, inevitable in such a context, were dispelled by the following statement given by Dr. Brockamp for PIPA: “PIPA spoke with Dr. Brockamp about this pigeon that arrived very early from Barcelona, while no other pigeons were registered. Dr. Brockamp: “Everything that can be verified was verified, we suspect that the pigeons from Barcelona have settled after a short period of time due to the very high temperatures and that this two-year-old hen continued to fly. It is a two-year-old female that is very light, weighs about 300 grams. The pigeon was detected electronically at 5.14 in the morning, but the fancier was not at the loft, and only reported the pigeon at 7.25. Since he had 15 minutes to report the pigeon, we will use the time from 7:10 for the German national championship. We think everything went right!” Not less important is the fact that the winning hen also has Romanian origins. The hen’s father comes from the Menne and Lucian Mermezan pigeons, and the mother is 100% from the pigeons from the Curea + Dinu team, from Timiș. Just try to imagine how many people will see this pedigree!
So, from now on we can be even more proud being Romanians. A compatriot, although established in Germany, has achieved a historic result and brings an extraordinary promotion to our country. Alin Karscu deserves all our congratulations, especially because, let’s not forget, he engaged only three pigeons for this competition.
