Long distance Palmares, the first three national places occupied by Vicențiu Scripcaru, George Vochin and Vali Tudor

This category is a very competitive one, achieved by ranking six races with a distance of over 475 km in two consecutive years. The total number of km of the six races must be greater than 3,300 km, being mandatory that at least one race is centralized from different seasons. At the same time, Long distance Palmares is one of the Olympic categories.

In the 2020 competitive year, over 5,000 old birds met the above requirements, the first three places in the national ranking of the category being occupied by Vicențiu Scripcaru (GL), on the 1st place, George Vochin (DJ), on the second place, and Vali Tudor (VL), in third place. The national champion of the Long distance Palmares category, season 2020, is the cock with the series 0005535/2017, competed by Vicențiu Scripcaru, member of the Galați Pigeon Association. Last season, the same pigeon ranked 4th National Long distance old birds, being very close to the national podium. The 2nd place National Long distance Palmares is won by George Vochin from Dolj, with the hen RO-15-0646815, who in 2019 achieved the norm at Long distance Old birds with 14.78 penalty points and occupied the 32nd National place. With a score only one hundredth higher than George Vochin’s hen, the cock RO-18-9003363, competed by Vali Tudor, occupies the 3rd National Long distance Palmares position, after in the 2019 season he was the national champion of the Gold Club.

Vicențiu Scripcaru (GL), national champion for Long distance Palmares 2020

The score made by Vicențiu Scripcaru’s cock, the best in Romania this season, is 14.42 penalty points. Of the six races, four are from the 2019 season and two from the 2020 season. The two rankings from 2020 are made at the Chelm competition (657 km), where Vicențiu Scripcaru’s cock took 2nd place out of 645 pigeons and 2nd place out of 582 pigeons, and the four rankings from 2019, also made at competitions with launch from Chelm (662 km), are the following: 1/2,168 pigeons, 3/2,203 pigeons, 3/1,227 pigeons and 6/1,659 pigeons. “He is a cock who, as a young bird, did not compete at all, because he was late bred. His father is from Roman Claudiu, grandson of Georges Carteus’ cock De 700, and his mother is from the Verbove brothers. I compete with pigeons using widowhood, and for few years now, I haven’t reproduced before I widowed them. This year they laid two rows of eggs and hatched without having young birds. I use the Superstar mixture from Versele Laga, and for preparation and recovery I use the typical products: glucose, electrolytes, etc. I think food is the most important thing. From the food, the pigeon must take almost everything it needs. The pigeons can see their pairs only when they arrive from the race, and I did one or two trainings during the week, at a distance of 40-50 km “, said Vicențiu Scripcaru. The same cock of the pigeon fancier from Galaţi is the national champion and of the Long distance Ace Palmares category, which means that we are talking about one of the best long distance pigeons in Romania in this moment. Moreover, two good brothers of this cock took the places 3rd National Long distance Ace Old birds in 2015, and 4th National Long distance Yearlings, in 2016.

George Vochin (DJ) wins the 2nd National Long distance palmares

On the 2nd place National Long distance Palmares, with a coefficient of 29.43 penalty points, is the hen RO-15-0646815 of the Dolj pigeon fancier George Vochin, who in 2020 occupies the 2nd place National Marathon Ace Palmares and 4th National Marathon Palmares. For the norm of the Long distance Palmares category, the following rankings were centralized for the hen competed by George Vochin: 2/5,471 pigeons (937 km), 14/4,243 pigeons (533 km), 16/4,578 pigeons (537 km), 23/5,265 pigeons (799 km), 40/4,632 pigeons (960 km) and 45/6,057 pigeons (960 km). “She is a hen who competed in the first two years in the long distance races, and in the next three years in the marathon ones. She ranked 10 marathon races out of 10 possible, being one of the best pigeons in my loft. It also did not miss any long distane race, including a 1st place on the launch. Originally, it is a Wijnants pigeon “, explained George Vochin (foto left).

After the 1st place National Gold Club, Vali Tudor wins the 3rd place National Long distance Palmares with the same cock

The best yearling from last year’s Gold Club championship was the cock RO-18-9003363, competed by Vali Tudor, a member of the Vâlcea Pigeon Association. The same cock, named “Gold Champion” for last year’s performance, reconfirmed his quality as a very good fighter in the 2020 season, at the end of which he ranks 3rd National Long distance Palmares, with 29.44 penalty points. Two of the races are from the 2020 season, the 13th place out of 5,588 pigeons (564 km) and the 10th place out of 2,336 pigeons (647 km), and four are from the 2019 season: the 1st place / 1,354 pigeons (576 km), the 2nd place / 1,085 pigeons (670 km), place 2/568 pigeons (643 km) and place 50 / 3,038 pigeons (667 km). “Gold Champion’s father is Turkey, 460650-17, who is also the son of 554011-2002, Unșparul, the well-known pigeon of Marian Dumitrache, winner of the 2nd place National Long distance Palmares. He is a super breeder, the father and grandfather of many winning pigeons 1st, 2nd and 3rd place in the Long distance and Marathon categories, also present on the podium in 2003, 2004 and 2005 at Middle distance, Allround and Long distance Palmares. At the beginning of the season he came home injured by hawk and with two feathers missing from the wing. I had to wait for it to recover, but one of the feathers, the fourth, did not heal at all. He continued to fly like this, being races when he had two missing feathers from the same wing. However, he flew like that and managed to come very well “, said Vali Tudor.

In 2020, Long distance Palmares was, therefore, a category that highlighted three of the pigeons that competed very well in past seasons. In fact, such a performance as the achievement of the Long distance Palmares norm with national podium scores is not a coincidence.
