Also for the 2021 season, at the first long distance race, the pigeon fancier associations of Suceava and Botoșani counties managed to establish a record number of pigeons. Last year, at the same first stage, the pigeon fanciers from the two associations engaged over 25,000 pigeons, and this year over 28,000 pigeons were engaged, thus creating the premises for a super long distance competition. The race is organized by the Suceava Pigeon Association.

Competing in protocol since the first stage of the 2021 season, as in previous years, pigeon fanciers from Suceava and Botoșani counties engaged 28,108 pigeons at the Janow (Poland) stage. The figure is certainly the largest number of pigeons employed in a long distance competition so far in our country. Regarding pigeon lovers, the participation is 756 members.

The Suceava Association engaged 21,189 pigeons; Botoșani, 6,919

Out of the total number of pigeons engaged at the Janow competition, no less than 21,189 belong to the pigeon fanciers from Suceava, owned by 591 participating fanciers. Therefore, more than three quarters of the total number of pigeons employed at this competition come from Suceava, an association that used to already with a massive presence at distance competitions. “We can say that it has already become a tradition to fly pigeons with our colleagues from Botosani. The protocol has been running for many years and we have always had very successful races. The competition was announced to be quite difficult, with front wind, so a very attractive race. So far, it’s the largest number of pigeons we’ve ever engaged in a long distance competition, but it’s certainly not the last. The pigeons were loaded into 13 transport vehicles and are already close to the launch area. Tomorrow morning, as soon as possible, the pigeons will be released. At this competition, all pigeon fanciers have distances of over 500 km. We can only hope for a successful competition “, said Adrian Schipor, president of the Suceava Pigeon Association. On the other hand, the participation of the Botoșani Pigeon Association is represented by almost 7,000 pigeons, more precisely 6,919, and 165 pigeon fanciers. Unlike last year, the pigeon fanciers from Botoșani hired more than a thousand more pigeons. “Through this stage, Moldova has once again demonstrated that it is up to par, as usual. We can say that we can see the effects of our work in recent years and that the pride we put aside and the good collaborations lead to progress. We hope to be an example for everyone and we hope to have a successful stage, even if an unfavorable weather forecast is announced. I am also glad that the Botoșani Association has grown significantly lately, doubling its number of fanciers, and now we manage to come with 7,000 pigeons. The good and healthy management we have applied so far and the seriousness with which we organize the stages have their say.
