South Africa is, for sure, one of the most difficult environments in which competitions with racing pigeons take place. The torrid temperature is the one that creates the most difficulties, but, nevertheless, the pigeon races in one loft race system, ie the pigeon race, are becoming more and more popular. Starting next year, a new pigeon loft will open its doors in South Africa, and if it is not the only one, it is certainly the most challenging, especially through the regulations it proposes to participants.

“AfricaPro” is the name of the newest columbodrom in South Africa, whose competition will start in April next year. What does this one loft have to do with pigeon sport in Romania? The answer refers to the most important pigeon player in Romania and one of the most famous Romanian pigeon fanciers.

The competition of the new one loft in South Africa will start on July 10, 2022, consisting of 10 races, the final stage being at a distance of 620 km.

The regulation of this new pigeon loft in Africa is also a very special one. The organizers want a completely unique competition, which is why they have decided that only 300 pigeon fanciers from different countries can participate in the AfricaPro pigeon loft, who cannot send a team of more than 10 pigeons. Of the 300 pigeon fanciers, a certain part have the status of special guests, for the reputation and performances obtained in pigeon fancier, and the rest up to 300 are selected by the organizers based on the same criteria. Among the special guests at the inaugural edition of the AfricaPro pigeon field, there is also the well-known Romanian pigeon fancier Florea Sorin, the fancier from Romania with extraordinary references in races of this type and not only. “People from AfricaPro contacted me and told me that what is happening in the lofts they own, and the association with the 300 Spartans motivated them to set up a pigeon field where the strongest competitors in the world can meet. They especially invited me to participate in the first edition, which will be next year, and they also asked me to be their agent for Romania, because they have a special policy of participation, and the pigeons from a certain country can be sent to the pigeon house only through the agent of that country. I like challenges, I like to compete against the best in the world, which is why I agreed to send pigeons there, but also to help Romanian pigeon fanciers who want to participate. I also talked to Marius Tunduc, president of the National Federation of Pigeon Fanciers in Romania, and he promised to support me, together, to facilitate the presence of Romanian pigeon fanciers at this pigeon field and to send as many pigeons from our country “, said Florea Sorin.

Unique rules and prizes

The fact that the organizers of the AfricaPro lone-loft reserve the right to select their participants promises extremely fierce competition. The rather high participation costs also help to select them, which, in total, reach the amount of 15,000 dollars. However, the prizes are just right. “This one-loft has a special regulation. First of all, if we talk about costs, they are quite high. In the first phase, immediately after accepting the invitation, in the case of pigeon fanciers they ask to participate, or after the acceptance by the organizers of the application for participation, in the case of other pigeon fanciers, the amount of $ 3,000 must be paid. When the pigeons arrive at the pigeon loft, the pigeon fancier must pay another $ 6,000, and the remaining $ 6,000 will be paid for the activation of the 10 pigeons sent. Because I agreed to be an agent for Romania, I specify that the pigeons must stay in quarantine for a month, in the care of the agent, and then be sent to the loft. Even if there are high participation costs, I warmly invite Romanian pigeon fanciers to send pigeons. I really recommend them to join and form teams, more pigeon fanciers, and share the expenses. So far, from Romania, Cosmin Olteanu confirmed to me that he will be with me in this competition. I want to add the fact that only teams of 10 pigeons are accepted, with which two or five reserve pigeons can be sent, but you can only start the competition with 10 pigeons “, added Florea Sorin. The one-loft awards are just as considerable. Thus, there will be several competitions, each with a consistent prize: Champion Fancier (1st place will receive $ 500,000), Champion Pigeon (1st place will receive $ 150,000), Final Race ($ 175,000) and Weekly Fancier ( 1st place will receive $ 3,000, 10 races will be organized and the winning pigeon fancier will be awarded each week).

So, the new one-loft in South Africa offers a special competition, special rules, but also very consistent prizes. As can be seen, the emphasis in this pigeon house will be on the evolution of the fancier and less on that of a single pigeon, as is usual for other pigeon fields. From a pigeon fancier point of view, we are glad that the merits of the fancier Florea Sorin are known as far as South Africa, and the fact that this is one of the special guests increases Romania’s prestige.
