After the presentation of the pigeons from the national top 3 in 2021 in the categories of Speed old birds and Yearlings, in today’s material we discuss the pigeons and fanciers who will lift the three national trophies from 2021 in the section dedicated to youngsters. We mention that on all the three awarded national positions we find only teams and, again, Prahova County in the top, which thus reconfirms its status as the strongest group for the short stages in Romania.

The national champions of the category are the pigeon fanciers Răzvan Iostin and Florin Lorinț, from the Drajna club, Prahova, which we also find on the 5th, 7th and 20th places. Also from Prahova is the team Romulus Nedelcu + Cosmin Cojanu, which occupies the second place. It should be noted that both teams are formed recently, this year or in 2020, and we already see that the first national trophies are on the list. Last but not least, the team formed by the pigeon fanciers Gabriel Robaș and Daniel Bucaciuc, from Satu-Mare county, is positioned on the 3rd national place.

The first year as a team, the first national trophy

The competition in Prahova, when we talk about the speed and middle distance categories, is by far the strongest in the country, so that any pigeon fancier who manages to perform in this group is, with no doubt, a very good trainer, and also has high quality pigeons. This is also the case of the pigeon fanciers Răzvan Iostin and Florin Lorint, who set out to compete as a team starting with 2021 season, and also in 2021 they won the 1st national Speed Youngsters. The result is due to the youngster with the series RO-21-0856540, which obtained a total coefficient of 3.07 penalty points. The best of its rankings is the 5th place out of 14,405 pigeons. “His father that won the 1st national place is an original pigeon Cătălin Istudor, grandson of three national champions in Speed and Middle distance. The mother is also from Cătălin Istudor, from pigeons cultivated by him, with origins Adrian Crăciunescu, Cosmin Olteanu and the Voicu + Negres team, on the line of a very good breeder, original Barbry / Janssen. As a team, we started this season and we aim to compete very well in the first two categories. We had a total batch of about 70 young birds for this season, which we competed using the dark method, but adapted to our time. We tried to ensure that the young birds did not have more than 10 hours of light a day during the whole period from the separation until the first competition. For feeding we used several types of food, including Beyers mixes. In addition to the pre-season training, the young birds were taken between races in a 65 km training session. An advantage of our team is that we do not use treatments. My breeders, for example, has not received antibiotics since 2017. Although it is hard to believe, we only treat when it is really needed. For example, this year’s youngsters went through a short episode of Adeno-E.coli and I only treated them for three days. In December, we send samples for analysis and treat only if a certain disease is discovered “, said Florin Lorinț.

The Romulus Nedelcu + Cosmin Cojanu team wins second place

The team formed by Romulus Nedelcu and Cosmin Cojanu is still at the beginning of the road, although Cosmin Cojanu is a well-known pigeon fancier with many national results. However, in 2020, he set up a collaboration with his association colleague, Romulus Nedelcu, and this year, together, they managed to win the 2nd place National Speed Youngsters. The coefficient obtained by the pigeon RO-21-052916 is 3.76 penalty points, and the best ranking among the five centralized for the norm is the 1st place out of 11,196 pigeons. “I started this collaboration as a new challenge, to see if I can make results in another location. We started well in 2020, the debut year, when we won the 1st and 2nd places in the county at the Derby race in the youngsters season. Most young birds are bred in my loft and then moved to the team location. This pigeon is reproduced from a cock, having Simion Emil + Stelian Dumitran origins, and the mother is the daughter of one of my best pigeons, with dozens of trophies won at county level. Robaș G. + Bucaciuc D., a new season full of trophies

We mentioned the Robaș G. + Bucaciuc D. team several times on our website, because the two are a constant presence on the national podiums. This year they again had a very good performance in the championship of the youngsters winning the 1st national Allround, 1st national Speed ace, 3rd national Middle distance and 3 national Speed. Although it is hard to believe, all these trophies were won by one pigeon, RO-21-0700719, by far the best youngster in Romania for the 2021 season, in the short stages. “The youngsters were sent by my tandem to Romania at the end of February and stayed in the dark until the first week of July. They managed to change the whole plumage on the body, and when they matured, I separated them by sex. There were races when I allowed them to stay together before basketing and races when they didn’t see each other, but I didn’t notice any difference. The food used was the same, a few mixtures of Beyers and Gerry. Originally, the youngster’s father is an original Rudy de Saer pigeon, and the mother is a combination of Fantastisc, the famous pigeon of my team member, with Gino Clicque pigeons.
