Cosmin Olteanu dominated the national ranking of the Speed Yearlings category

In the 2021 season, the Speed Yearlings category was dominated by hens. On the first three positions of the national ranking we find three young hens, but, more than that, only one cock made it for the national top 10. If we look at the national podium in the Old birds Speed category, we will see that the 1st and 3rd places nationally are also occupied by hens, which makes us say that, in terms of the short races, this season the hens were the ones who dominated the competition. Next, we suggest you find out how the three hens I mentioned managed to occupy a place on the national podium, who are the fanciers who own them and, especially, what are the details of these performances.

Cosmin Olteanu from Urlați, Prahova, is a name that needs no introduction. In recent years, his name has resonated at every national premiere, and the tradition will be preserved after the season 2021. The Prahova pigeon fancier is the champion of the Speed Yearlings category and he also ranks 3rd nationally in the same category. Călin-Andrei Nițui from Arad is the one who completes the national podium from the position of vice-champion.

He bet on the hens and won

For the 2021 season, Cosmin Olteanu and his team have decided to compete only with widowed hens, and the results are the ones that prove that they made the right choice. With an excellent performance, the young hen RO-20-0020655 became the national champion of the Speed Yearlings category, with a coefficient of 4.34 penalty points. Although his score is very good compared to other years, we mention that in four of the centralized stages for the norm, Cosmin Olteanu’s hen obtained less than 1 penalty point. In total, its rankings are as follows: place 1 / 6,844 pigeons (292 km), place 5 / 11,142 pigeons (365 km), place 8 / 11,963 pigeons (365 km), place 8 / 9,676 pigeons (373 km) and place 23 /10,253 pigeons (373 km). However, all this is valid only when we talk about the Speed Yearlings category, because the same hen of Cosmin Olteanu is also the national champion of the Middle distance Yearlings and G-Youngsters categories, and in the Allround Yearlings category she occupies the 3rd place nationally. So, we’re talking about a three-time national champion. The 3rd place National Speed Yearlings is occupied by the hen RO-20-0020011, who obtained 7.73 penalty points. It is very interesting that the same hen occupies the 2nd national place Middle distance Yearlings, which means that Cosmin Olteanu from Prahova dominates the two categories with two hens of an extremely rare quality. “Both hens competed as widows, but with their partner at home. I want to tell you that there were stages when they saw their cocks before basketing and stages when they did not meet, in both cases arriving just as well. In terms of training, we did the same, that is, there were stages when they were taken to training and stages when they were not. What is certain is that they performed just as well. I used a Hungarian mixture as food, and I used Tollyamin and Belgasol as supplements. The national champion is reproduced from a Rudy Van Reeth cock, and his mother is a hen from Jos Cools. The other hen is reproduced from a cock also from Jos Cools, and her mother is the famous Olympian of our loft, the female 484 “, said Ciprian Mălescu, the manager of Cosmin Olteanu’s loft.

Călin-Andrei Nițui from Arad, the second season and the first national trophy

If on the other two positions of the national podium we have a very experienced fancier, the 2nd place national Speed Yearlings is occupied by a pigeon fancier only in the second season as a competitor. This is Călin-Andrei Nițui, from the Arad Pigeon Association, who obtains the first national trophy of his career with the hen RO-20-0071412. Among the best stages of its hen we mention the 3rd place out of 8,765 pigeons (190 km) and the 2nd place out of 1,378 pigeons (158 km). The total coefficient he obtained is 7.57 points. The same young flyer of Călin-Andrei Nițui “catches” the national podium in the G-Youngsters category, where she occupies the 3rd national place. “In our family, pigeons have been present for over 40 years. Even now, my father is the one who helps me with the care of the flight team. We compete in all categories, but we don’t engage a lot of pigeons in the marathon. We cultivate our own pigeon family, meaning we still have products from the pigeons we received many years ago from fanciers like Gheorghe Bragea, Traian Bacoș or Guiu Păvălaș. However, this hen is purchased from Daniel Marta. I bought her as a young bird from him, she and her sister, and they proved to be two very good pigeons, because her nest sister also ranks 3rd in the county of Speed yearlings. As a method of flight, the hen competed in three races as widow, one race on eggs and one race on chicks. I only engaged her for six races all season. For feeding I used the classic mixture from Versele Laga and, of course, I also used supplements. They received alternative treatments, one week against trichomoniasis, one week against respiratory problems and the next week with no treatments. The only trainings were around the loft, 40 minutes in the morning and also in the evening “, detailed Călin-Andrei Nițui.
So, these are the most important details about the pigeons and pigeon fanciers who in the 2021 season won the national trophies in the Speed Yearlings category.
