In order to see how combative the provinces of Romania are (Moldova, Muntenia, Oltenia, Transylvania and the Western province) and on which distance categories, we propose a series of comparative presentations of the last three seasons. For each of the categories, together with their derivatives, the criterion will be the ranking in the top three at national level. Then, we will present a hierarchy of provinces, the awards they received each year, plus a few other analyzes. Then, we will present a hierarchy of provinces, the awards they received each year, plus a few other analyzes. At the end, we will calculate the total score achieved on all three seasons of each province and, according to this criterion, we will make a final ranking of them. We present the analysis of the Ace Speed category, whose norm is achieved by ranking ten races between 95 and 630 km.
The Ace Speed category, as well as the All-round category, is a complex category and involves the ranking of 10 races. These can be short distance, short distance – middle distance, middle distance and long distance competitions. These ten competitions must have a total of 2,500 km minimum. Of the five provinces, Muntenia has the most national trophies in this category. It should be added that for the Ace Speed category there are no rankings for fanciers.
Muntenia
As I mentioned, Muntenia is the province with the highest number of national trophies won in the Ace Speed category. In the 2017 season, the pigeon fanciers from this province won most of the trophies, and also the most important national cups of the category: 1st and 3rd place National Ace Speed Old birds, 1 National Ace Speed Year, 1, 2 and 3 National Ace Speed Old birds 2 years Palmares, 1, 2 and 3 National Ace Speed 3 years Palmares. A season later, in 2018, from the province of Muntenia were the pigeon fanciers who occupied the places 2 National Ace Speed Yearlings, 2 National Ace Speed Youngsters and 1 National Ace Speed Palmares. Four other national trophies were won in the 2019 season: 1, 2 and 3 National Ace Speed Youngsters and 2 National Ace Speed Palmares.
Transilvania
The main competitor for Muntenia in the Ace Speed category was Transylvania. Even if it is, for the most part, a difficult geographic area for pigeon competitions, fanciers from Transylvania manage to obtain beautiful results at national level, as is the case of the Ace Speed category. They won a total of 14 national cups at Ace Speed, positioning themselves, from this point of view, right after the fanciers from Muntenia. In the 2017 season, fanciers from Transylvania occupied the following places: 2 National Ace Speed Old birds, 2, and 3 National Ace Speed Yearlings, 2 National Ace Speed Youngsters, 1, 2 and 3 National Ace Speed Yearlings Palmares. In 2018, the following national trophies were won in Transylvania: 1 and 3 National Ace Speed Old birds, 1 and 3 National Ace Speed Yearlings and 2 National Ace Speed Palmares. Also in Transylvania, last season, two other national trophies were won: 3 National Ace Speed Yearlings and 3 National Ace Speed Palmares.
West Province
In the Ace Speed category, pigeon fanciers from the western province have a total of eight national trophies, won in the last three years of competition. In 2017, two trophies were won in the West: 1st and 3rd places National Ace Speed Youngsters. In 2018, the pigeon fanciers from this region won four other national cups: 2 National Ace Speed Old birds, 1 and 3 National Ace Speed Youngsters and 3 National Ace Speed Palmares, adding two more national trophies in 2019: 2 National Ace Speed Old birds and 1 National Ace Speed Palmares.
Oltenia
Oltenia is the fourth province to provide national champions or national trophy winners in the Ace Speed category. Three national trophies are currently in this province’s record in the Ace Speed category, with the mention that all three national cups were won last year: 1 and 3 National Ace Speed Old birds and 1 National Ace Speed Yearlings.
Concluzii:
The Ace Speed category is a very complex one. It involves ranking a significant number of stages, from speed to long distance, which means that pigeons competing for this category will be able to perform and fit for a long time. Being a category with „one day” races, for the category Ace Speed competes pigeon fanciers from Muntenia, a province that is known to be focused on this type of competition. Thus, we see that in 2017, pigeon fanciers from the province of Muntenia authoritatively dominated all the subcategories from Ace Speed, winning the most, but also the most important national cups. In 2018, pigeon fanciers from Transylvania and the West area began to be more and more present in the national top of the category, winning five and four national cups, respectively. The 2019 season was the most balanced of all of the last three. Another province appeared, Oltenia, which won three national cups, two in 1st place and one in third place, so that the 12 available national cups were divided almost equally between pigeon fanciers from Muntenia, Transylvania and West and Oltenia. In the end, the ranking of the provinces is as follows:
- Muntenia: 34 points (19/2017 + 7/2018 + 8/2019 = 34)
- Transylvania: 25 points (13/2017 + 10/2018 + 2/2019 = 25)
- West: 16 points (4/2017 + 7/2018 + 5/2018 = 16)
- Oltenia: 7 points (2019)
