Romania: National Middle distance category, dominated in 2020 by pigeon fanciers from Muntenia

We continue the series of analysis of the areas where national trophies were won in the 2020 season, and today we present the statistics made for the National Middle distance category. As usual, we will give the following score: 1st place – 3 points, 2nd place – 2 points, 3rd place – 1 point. And, at the end, after presenting the trophies won in each province, we will calculate the total score achieved and, according to this criterion, we will make a final provincial ranking. Of course, the purpose of these statistics is to highlight the level of competition in each pigeon fancier province and the categories that pigeon fanciers in those areas focus on.

If in the National Short distance category, we found only pigeon fanciers from four pigeon fancier provinces, in the National Middle distance category, things are different. At least one of the 18 national trophies will go to each of the five provinces.

Muntenia, the most combative province at Middle distance

In the past, known as the competitive “cradle” of the short categories, the province of Muntenia returns in force in the 2020 season. 2 National Middle distance Old birds, 3 National Middle distance Old birds, 1 National Middle distance Fanciers, 3 National Middle distance Fanciers, 3 National Palmares and 1st place National Fanciers Palmares. So, with half of the national cups won for middle distance sub-categories, we can say that the province of Muntenia dominated this category in the 2020 season.

Oltenia, the next one in rankings

Both in terms of the number of national trophies won at Middle distance (four) and their importance, Oltenia follows the province of Muntenia. It should be mentioned that out of the four national trophies that belong to Oltenia (1 National Middle distance Old birds, 1 National Middle distance Palmares, 2 National Middle distance Fanciers Palmares and 3 National Midle distane Old birds), three were won in the Vâlcea association and one in Mehedinți.

Three national trophies for the Western Province

The Western province is not “bad” either in terms of the National Middle distance category. Here, respectively in the counties of Caraș Severin, Bihor and Sălaj, three national trophies were won: 2nd National Middle distance Youngsters, 2nd National Middle distance Fanciers and 3rd National Middle distance Fanciers Palmares.

One national trophy for Transylvania and Moldova

In the province of Moldova, only one national trophy was won at Middle distance in the 2020 season, but a very important one. Suceava’s Andrei Malinovschi managed to win the 1st place National Middle distance Youngsters, thus including his province in the top of the short categories. On the other hand, in Transylvania, the Strava Family, from Brașov, brought the only national trophy in this category for its province, respectively the 2nd place National Middle distance Palmares.

Under these conditions, the ranking of the provinces based on the score achieved is as follows:

  1. Muntenia (17 points)
  2. Oltenia (5 points)
  3. West (5 points)
  4. Moldova (3 points)
  5. Transylvania (2 points)
