A few months ago, we presented a statistic of each competitive category, made after analyzing the provinces from which came the occupants of the first three national places in the seasons 2017, 2018 and 2019. Now, after completion to the presentation of the national winners from last season, from each category, we propose the same exercise. We will analyze, in turn, each of the categories of the national championship and we will give the following score: place 1: 3 points, place 2: 2 points, place 3: 1 point. At the end, we will calculate the total score achieved by each province and, according to this criterion, we will make a final ranking of them. Thus, we start these statistics by presenting the situation in the National Short distance category.
For the national prizes at stake in the National Short distance category, a category consisting of six subcategories (Short distance Youngsters, Short distance Yearlings, Short distance Old birds, Short distance Fanciers, Short distance Palmares, Short distance Fanciers palmares), the “fight” was between fanciers from four pigeon-loving provinces. The picture of this category is missing the province of Moldova, where we know that specific to the area are the long distance and marathon stages.
Oltenia, the province that “grabbed” the National Short distance category last season
The associations of the counties of Mehedinți, Gorj, Vâlcea, Dolj, Olt, Argeș and Teleorman are part of the pigeon-loving province of Oltenia. Last season, the pigeon fanciers from these associations won ten of the 18 trophies available in the National Short distance category, authoritatively dominating the national catalog. Thus, the following national trophies were won here: 1 National Short distance Youngsters, 2 National Short distance Yearlings, 3 National Short distance Yearlings, 2 National Short distance old birds, 1 National Short distance Fanciers, 2 National Short distance Fanciers, 1 National Short distance Palmares, 2 National Short distance Palmares , 2 National Short distance Fanciers palmares. According to the criteria mentioned above, the province of Oltenia accumulates a total of 21 points.
Four national trophies for Transylvania
In the same statistics we mentioned before, Transylvania was the province where the most national trophies were won in the previous seasons 2017, 2018 and 2019. Formed from the counties of Cluj, Bistrița Năsăud, Hunedoara, Alba, Sibiu, Mureș, Brașov , Harghita and Covasna, Transylvania provided in the 2020 season only four occupants of the national podium. The trophies won here are 1 National Short distance Old birds, 1 National Short distance Fanciers Palmares, 2 National Short distance Youngsters and 3 National Short distance Youngsters. Therefore, the province of Transylvania earns a total of nine points.
In Muntenia and the Western province, two national trophies were won
The last two pigeon-loving provinces in descending order of the number of national trophies won last season in the National Short distance category are Muntenia and the western province, areas where two national cups were won each. The pigeon fanciers from Muntenia, a province formed by the associations Constanța, Ialomița, Călărași, Ilfov, Bucharest, Prahova, Dâmbovița, Giurgiu, Buzău, Brăila and Tulcea, won the places 1 National Short distance Yearlings and 3 National Short distance Old birds. On the other hand, in the West (consisting of the counties of Caraș Severin, Timiș, Arad, Bihor, Satu-Mare, Sălaj and Maramureș) it won twice the 3rd National place, in the categories of Short distance Fanciers and Short distance Fanciers Palmares. Following these results, Muntenia accumulates four points, and the Western province two.
Under these conditions, the final ranking of the provinces is as follows:
Oltenia (10 trophies won, 21 points)
Transylvania (four trophies won, nine points)
Muntenia (two trophies won, four points)
West (two trophies won, two points)
