The Allround National category is a special category of the racing pigeon championship in Romania. The specific note of this category is the diversity of the races that pigeons must rank in order to fulfill the norm, but also the large number of them. Fanciers that join the National Allround category participate for almost all races of the competition plan, except the classical extreme long distance ones.
The norm of the National Allround category is achieved by ranking a minimum of six races, with a total minimum distance of 1800 km, and the rankings of the respective ones include at least 250 pigeons and 20 fanciers. The six competitions are from different categories, starting with the short distance races (95-420 km) and ending with the competitions between 285 and 630 km (middle distance) or over 475 km (long distance). Depending on the best scores achieved at different races, the National Regulation of the National Federation of Pigeon Fanciers in Romania (FNCPR) offers the possibility to achieve the National Allround norm using 1-3 races between 95 and 420 km, 1-3 between 285 and 630 km or 1-3 races over 475 km. Thus, the best six of them that comply with all the requirements mentioned above, together will form the norm of the National Allround competition category, but only for old birds and yearlings. For young birds, the National Allround category is made of five races, as follows: 1-3 races from the short distance or middle distance types, 1-3 from middle distance, short distace-middle distance or middle distance-long distance and 1-3 races over 475 km. The record for National Allround category and the Olympic norm of the category is realized from 11 competitions, as follows: 3-5 between 95-420 km, 2-6 between 285-630 km and 1-3 races over 475 km, with a total minimum of 3600 km.
Because it involves races from several categories of distance, the National Allround category is a highly appreciated category by Romanian fanciers. Allround competitions fans have the opportunity to feel the emotions of the short races, which last only a few minutes, but also to wait for the pigeons from the competitions that last a few hours. Thus, all these features describe one of the most interesting categories of competition in the pigeon championship of Romania.
